Saltability, a spa industry vendor that provides quality Himalayan salt stone treatments and products for resort, day, medical and destination spas, recently announced the addition of Doug Elman as the company’s director of education. A licensed massage therapist, experienced spa industry veteran and innovative educator, Elman specializes in creating continuing education for massage schools, spas and professional organizations across the United States.
“Doug’s compassion and desire to serve others, plus his passion for education, create a natural blend for him into our team, and we are elated for him to serve as the director of education for Saltability,” said Ann Brown, Saltability founder. “We are excited to join forces with him to share the multi-therapeutic benefits of Himalayan Salt Stone Massage and Saltability’s green and eco-friendly features with the spa industry.”
Elman will work to educate spa partners on Saltability treatments, developed by spa industry veteran Ann Brown, that offer a more environmentally friendly, healthier alternative to traditional stone massage.
“I fell in love with the salt stones immediately,” Elman said. “It’s a uniquely wonderful way to incorporate heat and the therapeutic benefits of the Himalayan salt. When applied optimally, in my personal opinion, it’s one of the finest spa experiences available. Our partnership focuses on ensuring practitioners deliver just that.”
Elman was the prior director of training for Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa in North America. With over 300 spas in the franchise, Doug was responsible for all education within the chain to elevate the experience hands-on as well as promote outstanding customer service.
One of his earliest and fondest memories as a massage therapist was being a part of the popular “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” television show, where he volunteered his time, providing massage therapy to the crew and television personalities both in Philadelphia and New Jersey.
Prior to entering the massage industry, Elman served for more than 11 years of experience as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. He has also been active in working with people who were diagnosed and suffered from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
