Saltability Himalayan Salt Stone Massage Provides Waterless, Eco-Friendly Treatment for Spas

LAKE OZARK – Hot stone massage has long been a spa staple, but spas across the U.S. have found a new, eco-friendly alternative. Saltability’s Himalayan Salt Stone Massage features a warmer that eliminates water usage and a low electric load to give spas and their guests a treatment that is both good for the environment and the body.

Saltability founder Ann Brown developed the special warmers used to warm the 100 percent pure pink Himalayan salt stones used for Saltability’s Himalayan Salt Stone massage.

“As a spa director, I was frustrated with the turkey roaster-type appliance used to heat basalt stones for hot stone massage,” Brown said. “They use 5 gallons of water and have a tremendous electric load. Plus, the water was used all day on different clients. I knew we weren't doing the best we could for clients, and we weren't living up to the green identity the spa industry strives to maintain.”

Brown said a typical 10-treatment room spa can save up to 20,000 gallons of water each year by using a Saltability warmer instead of a turkey roaster-type appliance used for traditional hot stone massage. In addition, Saltability warmers feature LED technology to deliver an estimated energy efficiency of 80 to 90 percent compared to traditional lighting and use 75-watts of power compared to 1,500-watt traditional roasters.

“Saltability is one of the most impressive innovations I’ve seen in our industry in a long time,” said Mia Kyricos, Chief Brand Officer, Spafinder Wellness Inc., and Founder, Kyricos & Associates. “The treatments and products have been developed with the health of guests and therapists in mind, not to mention the philanthropic and environmental sensibilities of the company.”

In addition to Saltability’s water and energy savings, the U.S.-engineered warmers also feature shielded metal housing to block electromagnetic pollution (EMF), protecting therapists and guests from EMF’s negative effects. Plus, heated Himalayan salt stones emit negative ions, delivering a myriad of health benefits – from higher mental alertness to protection against germs in the air.

The highly relaxing and re-mineralizing Himalayan Salt Stone Massage uses warm hand-carved salt stones from the Himalayan Mountains to balance the central nervous system and nourish depleted cells, inducing deep relaxation. Stimulation of specific meridians on the body allows for improved sleep, reduced inflammation, and gives an immediate sense of improved well-being.

Spa-goers will find Saltability’s Himalayan Salt Stone Massage on the menu (and eco-friendly warmers in use) at spas across the country, including Spa Nordstrom, Red Mountain, Auberge Resorts, and more.
