BOCA RATON — June 12, 2017 — Ann Brown, founder and CEO of Saltability, has been selected as a judge for the 2018 World Spa & Wellness Awards. Launched in 2012 and organized by UK-based Professional Beauty group, the World Spa & Wellness Awards is one of the industry’s leading honors, recognizing and rewarding the work that spas do around the globe, honoring hotels and resort spas in Western Europe and Scandinavia, Middle East and North Africa, North and South America, Asia and Australasia. The awards acknowledge excellence of care, service and standards and aim to inspire spas around the world and serve to raise global industry standards.
This year marks the sixth year Brown will serve as a judge for the awards. With almost 20 years of experience in nearly every aspect of the spa industry, Ann Brown holds expertise as licensed cosmetologist, esthetician, nail technician and massage therapist, spa director and business manager. Brown’s experience also includes three years on the board of directors for the International Spa Association and five years on the education committee for the ISPA organization.
In 2014, she founded Saltability to answer the need for a better treatment in the spa industry and conceived a line of Himalayan salt products that offers multiple therapeutic benefits to both clients and therapists. Today, Saltability is a spa industry partner that provides quality Himalayan salt stone treatments and products for resort, day, medical and destination spas. Saltability received a 2016 Innovate Award from the International Spa Association for its Himalayan Salt Stone Massage, an eco-friendly innovation that features no water, no chemicals and low energy usage compared to turkey roaster-type warmers traditionally used with basalt stone massage.
Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Florida and contributed to the development of ISPA’s Hiring and Training Guide, in addition to helping co-author two textbooks used for spa management degrees at major universities. She has presented on spa management and modalities at ISPA’s annual conference, the American Massage Therapy Association conference, IECSC and more and has served her community as a board member of several nonprofits.
Professional Beauty group has organized spa and beauty industry awards for the past 19 years and has an in-depth knowledge of the field, the World Spa & Wellness Awards incorporates a thorough and independent judging process in which all spas are assessed by experienced industry professionals. As part of the comprehensive judging process, all shortlisted spas are visited by an official, possessing detailed knowledge of the region they are judging – during the second round of judging.
Previous years’ winners include leading international spas such as Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary & Holistic Spa in Thailand, One & Only Spa at One & Only Palmilla in Mexico and The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Washington DC, USA.
