Led by Co-Chair Saltability Ann Brown, 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Boca Raton Raises Nearly $340,000

A record-breaking 3,600 Boca Raton-area residents joined together in the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease through the Alzheimer’s Association’s 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Oct. 28 at Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca Raton. This year’s event raised nearly $340,000 to fund Alzheimer’s care, support and research programs.

“I’ve been absolutely overwhelmed by the support that the Boca Raton community has shown for this event and this cause — it’s been an amazing thing to witness,” says Ann Brown, event chair, who is also the founder and CEO of Boca Raton-based Saltability, the spa industry’s leading, global provider of warmers for Himalayan salt stone massage, and Himalayan Source. “I’m so grateful to have been part of such an inspiring event and even more grateful to be part of a community like ours that truly steps up to support and care for one another.”

David Eltringham, CEO and founder of the Eltringham Law Group in Boca Raton, served as co-chair of the event.

Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease, and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Like Brown, Stefanie Mardar, development manager for the Alzheimer’s Association Southeast Florida Chapter, was impressed by the number of locals who came to walk.

Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Besides completing the two-mile walk, participants were able to learn more about Alzheimer's disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical studies enrollment and support programs and services. Walk participants also honored those affected by Alzheimer's disease with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony.

Donations are still being collected. For more information about the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and to make a donation, visit alz.org/walk.
